For surf fishing you would want to use the ABF65 or the ABF90. They are a little bit more expensive than the smaller ABF models but they will land just about anything you will hook surf fishing. Especially the big game.
If you want to get into shark fishing this reel will get the job done.
As long as you use the baitfeeder feature you’ll never worry about a pull over. Without this feature there’s always a risk you could loose your whole rig.

Product Description |
| The Okuma Avenger "ABF" baitfeeder spinning reel reflects a refinement and precision that is the culmination of a decade of research and development. It is a unique combination of tournament grade spinning reel and Okuma's patented live line bait feeding system. The Avenger "ABF" series puts a new spin on the traditional world of reels, and more importantly, what can be expected from them. Quite simply, these are ultra smooth, precision crafted reels. The light weight CNC machined spools are fitted with super smooth oil-soaked felt washers. The reel features six sealed ball bearings, for smooth operation. The Avenger ABF uses Okuma's live bait feeding system. The easy-to-reach lever (located on the body behind the handle) disengages the spool to allow the line to run freely. The tension of the free spool can be adjusted with the rear adjustment (which looks and works like a rear drag). The bait feeding system allows a fish to pick up the bait and run without feeling the drag of the reel. When you are ready to set the hook, you flip down the baitfeeder lever to engage the drag, and the conventional front drag takes over. |

| Okuma Avenger ABF30 Baitfeeder Spinning Reel This is my 2nd ABF30 reel and my 5th baitfeeder from Okuma. They are lightweight and durable and the baitfeeder works as advertised. Each reel comes with a 2nd spool so one for braid and one for mono. I have only used in salt water up til now and they stand up well, just lightly rinse. Looking for my 1st tarpon on my abf50. | This is the best bait feeder (bait runner) reel for the money I could find. This is the best size for general fresh water fishing. |

| This is an awesome reel that is built to last. I plan on getting another one, but of a medium size, probably the ABF-30 Avenger because I already own an ABF-50 Avenger which is for larger game fish. Okuma just makes good products. |
